Customer feed back form:

"Following a recent survey, your company carried out damp treatment works and provided guarantees.
All stages of my experience of Yorkshire Dampcourse company were good -from my initial phone call, survey & report and then completion of the treatment work. The service you provided was prompt and efficient throughout. I was delighted with how Frank did the treatment work & plastering so quickly to a high standard. He protected the rest of the house from dust as possible and promptly cleared away at the end.  Thank -you "

"We have used you before and every time we can’t knock the service -  100% professional!"

Wall Tie work to a terrace house in Rotherham - August 2015

"Thank you so much for this. I’ve already left feedback on your website but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all your help – both of you!

It’s really nice (and refreshing) to deal with a company that has such great and helpful people working for it!

You’re both a credit to the company!!

Selling a house is really stressful and the issue with the wall ties was unexpected and very last minute – it could have been so much more stressful and delayed the sale of the house if you’d not been so accommodating and helpful in fitting us in and getting the job done.

Thank you so much and I hope the “powers that be” give you the appreciation you both deserve!"

This was the feedback from the website: -

"We were in a bit of a spot after the sale of our house was potentially delayed after the Wall Ties needed replacing. Rebecca and Gemma at Yorkshire Dampcourse were extremely helpful and were able to accommodate our job at short notice. They ensured the work was carried out in time, meaning the sale of our house could go through as planned. They were extremely helpful and kept us up to date, responding to emails straight away. Thank you so much for a great service - you're what great customer service is all about!!"

Japanese knotweed survey and customer service feedback - July 2015

A client in North Yorkshire had been having difficulty in arranging a Japanese knotweed survey.

"I lost weeks trying to work with a local surveyor recommended by (estate agent - name witheld).  He didn't return phone calls, didn't contact me when promised.  It was very disappointing."

"When I finally gave up on them, your administrator Rebecca Firth was very helpful in scheduling the earliest possible date for an inspection.  You arrived as planned, were very knowledgeable and quick to provide the report!"

"My solicitor is (name witheld), and it appears they have a lot of clients.  I hope my recommendation will result in some referrals to you from them and (estate agent - name witheld)."

"I also want to mention how impressed I am with Yorkshire Dampcourse as a firm.  They were responsive, highly professional and completed the report very quickly.  I appreciated this greatly as so much time was initially lost in trying to schedule the inspection with a local surveyor.  I recommend them unreservedly."

Damp proofing service rated as excellent

A recent feedback form from one of our clients rated us as excellent in all areas of the contact that we had with them and in the work that we did.

This included initial contact, our surveyor, the survey report, planning and management of the work, our technicians, the work quality, time taken, and overall service.

The client had already recommended us to others in his family and friends.

"I was very impressed by the knowledge and experience, and with the operators who carried out the work, Thanks again."

November brings another happy customer

Dear Sir/Madam,

During the last three days we have had some work carried out by your company. May I just take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to the two men who carried out this work in my house , they were called Martin and Gary , these two men were such hard grafters and carried out their work very efficiently , when they had finished each day they cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave any dirt behind , they were also extremely polite , so I just thought I would let your company know how very pleased we were with them.

Fixing a timber floor in a council house in Leeds

Taken from an email to the company: -  "I just wanted to write and thank you and your company for the work you recently did at our home, putting in a damp course and new timber joists and floorboards."

The two guys who did the job were excellent - they worked long hours and finished the job in two days - I cannot fault them at all. They were friendly, hard working and a credit to Yorkshire Dampcourse. All in all 5***** !!!

Already the difference is amazing the floor is so much better - and the added bonus is there is no longer sunlight appearing from the skirting boards! Thank you for your time in originally coming to the property following the request for the work by our landlord.

YDC helps Leeds LS9 landlord with rental property issues

'I couldn't be happier with the work Yorkshire Dampcourse did for us. After remedying some poor plastering work by another company, they also found and treated a separate problem that had previously been missed - so we're very pleased with our choice. Our house was also left really clean and tidy, and the information and advice we've received afterwards has been a great help. Thanks very much guys!'

Flood Defence Air Bricks installed in Drighlington

Flood airbrick installationAs part of Leeds City Councils Flood Defence Scheme for private houses in areas at risk from flooding, (see NEWS), Yorkshire Dampcourse has been installing flood defence air bricks into some houses in Drighlington.
One of our clients is especially pleased with our work: -

"Mrs W. has rung to report what a good job Yorkshire Dampcourse has done installing the air bricks at (address withheld). She wants you to know how pleased she is with the work and the attitude of the men who carried out the work".

A Basement Conversion that went wrong - and then right!

Yorkshire Dampcourse (YDC) was contacted by a distressed homeowner, who was not happy with their basement conversion. YDC initially advised by email evaluating the information provided by the client.

In short, the basement had not been waterproofed to the current British Standard, BS8102 2009, waterproofing of structures below ground - this being the the current work standard. It is worth noting here that such work MUST be done to this standard, UNLESS you are told that it will not be, AND the consequences of not applying the standard are explained to you, AND you understand the risks of not doing so.

After protracted discussion with the original contractor, the clients decided to turn to YDC for remedial works to bring the conversion up to the Standard. This involved upgrading the drainage system to form a proper cavity drainage system as defined within the Standard and correcting the way drainage membranes had been applied. A dedicated sump and pump system was also installed to facilitate removal of ingressing water below the floor and from the below ground walls.

There were also some structural issues, which YDC advised should be addressed by consultation with a structural engineer. We advised contact with John Newton and Partners in Brighouse. They visited and with YDC established the design principles that did not compromise the house's structure.

YDC also upgraded the insulation on the floor as best as possible, as no action had been taken to do so, as is required by the Building Regulations 2006. We applied a screed of insulating ThermoSap (see the entry for this in the main menu), whilst leaving enough floor to ceiling height.

The result of all this is a great family room, with adjoining laundry area.

The lesson to learn....... If a basement contractor does not mention BS8102, 2009 within a few minutes of talking to you about your basement conversion - then run a mile from them, as they do not know what they are doing and will not provide you with the protection you need to water proof successfully in a below ground structure.

We received two commendations form our client - the first from an email: -

I have attached a few photos to show you how the basement looks now with the new carpet down. It looks wonderful! We can't begin to tell you how happy we are it is all finally finished.

We wanted to thank you both for all that you have done to ensure this job was completed.

We were very impressed with every aspect of the work undertaken by your company. You both kept us regularly updated and this was important to us. Please pass on our thanks to the others who were also involved. Everyone who worked in the basement made a real effort to keep disruption to a minimum and kept things as tidy as possible. Both of these are very much appreciated.

The second correspondence is taken from a thank you card, send by post: -
We just wanted to say huge thanks to you. From the moment we met you we had confidence that you would be able to help us out of the nightmare we felt trapped in.
Your kindness, warmth, and professionalism, not to mention your extensive knowledge, will never be forgotten. All of this meant such a lot to us, particularly considering what we had been through and the fact that I am pregnant.
We just wanted you to know that you played a very significant part in restoring our faith, which ultimately led us to being able to get on with the rest of our lives.
Thanks so much.

In reply, what we can say is, that this was our perfect client. Clear, precise and timely instructions, coupled with an understanding of the complexities of the job.

Whilst remaining anonymous, you know who you are! Thank you.

Nightmare on basement street? Perhaps YDC can help you too...............
